Gear was a tall and muscular hyena, the leader of the avlum gang consisting of five members: Gear herself, Xien the zebra, who was an experienced pilot, Brute, a massive canine whose appearance matched her name, making her a perfect bodyguard and the main force of the gang, Sparks, a pretty and slender cheetah, who worked as a mechanic, supporting the landship the gang lived on in a functional condition, and the last but not least Kettle, a lioness who was a doctor and kept an eye on the health of the landship crew. Ladies were getting on well, besides those times one of them felt a bit too horngry and ate the others. It never ended in anything too bad though – none of them truly wanted to digest their gang mates, so they simply spent time goofing around with full bellies, and Gear even tried to use that as a punishment to improve her control over her mischievous subordinates. This time was different though, all members of the gang gathered in the dining room, discussing that unexpected invitation to the local interstellar convention. Usually only the planet colonies with population over 100 people were getting such honor, but it seemed like the rules became more liberal last time, so even their tiny business of mining stuff on a distant desert planet considered to be worthy of attention. The only problem was the price to rent a room – a five bed apartment was worth their monthly income, so Gear came out with a wonderful idea which wasn’t new by any means…
