A few days had passed since a violent storm which crushed the cargo ship and separated the group of animal friends. Alex, Melman and Marty were carried away from Gloria by waves, and a hippo girl was lucky she didn’t choke with water, lavishly oozing in the wooden box she was trapped in. Luckily, as any hippo, she was quite big and strong, and she managed to break out from that box only to find herself in the middle of nowhere, far from any land. Her fat gave her positive buoyancy, so she just relaxed drifting within a broad ocean current into the unknown. Her chubby belly was rumbling from hunger louder and louder – being a ‘civilized’ hippo from a NYC zoo, she was used to having regular meals in the same time every single day, and starving for a few days in a row was quire… unnerving for her to say the least. By the time she finally noticed a small tropical island, she was ready to devour anything and anyone even remotely edible. “Finally, land!” Gloria exclaimed, climbing out of the water and falling onto the rough sand, burying her fingers into it. She had no idea that she would be that happy to see sand one day… Still, her stomach gave her no time for rejoice, interrupting her happy laughter with another hungry groan. “Fine, fine, I’ll get something for you to eat, just stop making that noise already…” She murmured, giving her chubby middle a slap before walking deeper into the jungle, covering the island lavishly.
