The sun was shining bright over Equestria. Sleepy pegasi were resting on the clouds. Cows were grazing in the fields. Green trees were rustling in the gentle breeze which also ruffled Fluttershy’s luxurious mane as she was flying high in the sky. She just couldn’t stop gazing at the beauty of her home and smiled involuntarily, anticipating the picnic to come.
It had been a month since she had revealed to her pony friends her new duty as the biggest animal lover in Ponyville. It wasn’t as bad as she feared it would be, although she was prone to exaggerating most problems in her life. Though this surely wasn’t the case of exaggeration, since her new duty was to eat old and sick animals of all kinds… or at least those that would fit whole in her mouth…
She expected Pinkie Pie to be the most tolerant of her friends, since, well, she was quite a weirdo herself. But when Pinkie helped her to make a salad with mice, Fluttershy was pleasantly surprised by such acceptance. The others… weren’t so enthusiastic about this, but they didn’t stop spending time with her, and that was all she could wish for.
Now she didn’t have to hide it anymore and it was such a relief since most animals, including her pet rabbit Angel, had a very vague understanding of decency and politeness by pony standards. They were approaching her in public places and straightly asked her to eat them. Of course, she still refused them when there was anybody but her friends around, but now she could at least be honest honest with those she truly loved and cared for.
She had a small basket hanging off her foreleg. Inside there was bread, tomatoes, cucumbers and a jar of mayo. She was flying to a picnic, after all, and showing there without any food would be rude and simply unfair to her friends. However, judging by her past experience, she really doubted that regular food will be the only thing she would have to eat there…
Fluttershy smiled as she saw the colorful spots on the grass under the lonely big oak they used as their favorite place for picnics or stargazing. As she got lower, she could see her friends better.
Applejack was unloading heavy saddlebags full of apple pies. Rarity and Twilight used their magic to spread a white mat with a checkered pattern on it. Pinkie Pie was just jumping up and down next to them, unable to hold back her excitement about spending time with her besties. But no matter how much Fluttershy peered, she just couldn’t see Rainbow Dash…
Fluttershy glided gracefully to the ground and landed in ten yards from her friends. She clutched the basket handle with her teeth and walked towards them.
“Hi, Fluttershy!” Pinkie noticed her first and waved her hoof cheerfully.
“We were just waiting for you!” Twilight smiled.
“I was beginning to worry that you wouldn’t show up…” Rarity added.
“Aw, come on! Fluttershy may be shy, but she would never abandon her friends… unlike you, Rainbow Dash! Get down and help us to serve the dishes!” Applejack scolded, kicking the tree trunk and making the sleepy blue pegasus stick her head out of the tree crown.
“Hey, it’s not my fault you all were so slow that I fell asleep!” Rainbow Dash objected and jumped down to the ground without even using her wings.
Fluttershy put the basket on the ground and smiled.
“Hello, everyone! I’m so glad to see you!” She said in a soft voice.
“Hope not glad enough to eat us?” Rainbow Dash snickered, making Fluttershy blush and look away.
“Rainbow Dash!” Pinkie yelled and nudged her rude friend with her hoof.
“Fine, fine, it was a bad joke! No offense, Fluttershy?” Rainbow Dash asked hopefully.
“None taken…” Fluttershy said and smiled again.
Twilight and Rarity used their magic to serve the food, while Applejack was trying to incinerate Rainbow Dash with her gaze.
“What? Fine, I’ll do something too…” Rainbow Dash murmured and opened Fluttershy’s basket. She pulled out the bread, mayo and veggies, spreading them on the mat in front of Fluttershy. “Are you happy now?” She asked, looking back at Applejack.
“Sort of…” Applejack muttered, rolling her eyes. Sometimes this lazy pegasus was just insufferable…
As soon as the mares laid on the ground and prepared to have a snack, a chipmunk came down from the tree where Rainbow Dash was napping. Apparently, he was woken up by Applejack’s kick too. Now he went straight to Fluttershy between the dishes, immediately drawing everyone’s attention.
“Oh, hi, little one! Did you want something?” Fluttershy asked the critter politely.
“Let me guess…” Rainbow Dash snorted, making Fluttershy blush and lower her ears.
“Rainbow Dash!!!” Pinkie Pie hissed, making the blue pegasus duck her head. Pinkie Pie was fun and all, until she got pissed, and she was always very protective of Fluttershy.
“Could you eat me, please? I’m very old, and I heard that you give critters like me the best way to pass away…” The chipmunk said, though only Fluttershy could understand his words, while to the others he looked like he was just squeaking.
“Well, I guess I could…” Fluttershy sighed.
“Thank you so much! Should I climb into your mouth now?” The chipmunk asked enthusiastically, already starting to climb up her leg.
“Well…” Fluttershy murmured as all eyes were on her once again. “I guess you should…” She added, lowering her ears.
“How interesting… they really want you to eat them, even this far away from Ponyville?” Twilight asked Fluttershy curiously as the chipmunk already perched on her shoulder.
“Yes… I’m sorry for that, but…” Fluttershy started doing what she excelled at – asking for forgiveness, but was immediately interrupted by Rarity.
“Oh, darling, you shouldn’t be sorry for that! You do what they ask you to do even if you don’t like this, and that’s so kind and generous of you!” She praised Fluttershy, making her blush even more.
“T-thank you…” Fluttershy said with a coy smile.
“Please, let us at least make use of all the goodies you brought! Bet this chipmunk will be so much tastier as a sandwich…” Rarity added, using her magic to lift the pushy critter off Fluttershy’s shoulder.
“Hope you don’t mind against this, little one?” Fluttershy asked the critter politely.
“No, not at all! You are doing me a great favor, and I want you to enjoy it as much as possible!” The chipmunk assured her.
“Glad to hear that…” Fluttershy sighed with relief and smiled. Even if it was far from the first time she ate a critter on her friends’ eyes, she still felt embarrassed by them popping out of nowhere and asking her to do this…
“Put him here, Rarity!” Pinkie pie said cheerfully, holding a slice of bread on her hoof.
Rarity did just that and carefully lowered the chipmunk onto his belly. Twilight handled her the open jar, wondering what it was going to look like. Rarity scooped up the mayo with a blunt table knife and rubbed it on the chipmunk’s back, making him squeak since the mayo was pretty cold. Then Pinkie Pie put two slices of cucumber, a slice of tomato and another slice of bread on top of him, finishing the sandwich.
“Here you are, Fluttershy!” She said and gave it to the blushy yellow pegasus.
“T-thanks…” Fluttershy mumbled, holding the sandwich in her hooves and looking a little nervously at the chipmunk’s snout. “You… you sure about this? It’s not too late to refuse now, but it will be once you’re in my belly…” She added.
“Absolutely! Please, eat and digest me, Fluttershy! Let me be useful for the last time in my life!” The chipmunk said.
“Well, if you want it so badly…” Fluttershy muttered.
She opened her mouth wide and brought the sandwich to it. Applejack looked aside to give her at least some privacy. Her hot, humid breath washed over the chipmunk’s snout, ruffling his velvety fur. She really had to stretch her jaws to shove the whole sandwich in her mouth without biting into it. Her cheeks swelled, and the chipmunk’s fluffy tail was still sticking out of her mouth.
Twilight looked at Fluttershy closely and even pulled out a quill and a notepad, making the yellow pegasus feel really awkward. Rainbow Dash frowned and nipped her lip. Sometimes critters like that got in her mouth by an accident when she was napping in treetops, and it always felt nasty when their fur tickled her mouth from the inside… The only ones who didn’t seem to care much about Fluttershy’s dinner were Pinkie Pie and Rarity, who were casually making more peanut butter sandwiches for themselves and their friends.
Fluttershy slurped in the chipmunk’s tail like a noodle and chewed the sandwich carefully, because she just couldn’t swallow a big chunk of dry bread whole. She tried her best to keep the chipmunk as far from her teeth as possible, lapping her tongue around his waist all while the rest of the sandwich was pulverized into a uniform sticky mush around him.
She was pretty good at this after consuming over a hundred of the little critters. To be honest, she barely even ate regular food through this month, and she was even starting to worry that she could gain weight on such a nutritious diet, but she was willing to make sacrifices for the good of her little animal friends…
The chipmunk was enjoying himself a lot. The mare’s tongue was soft and squishy, and the chewed food mush, soaked with saliva, coated his entire body in a thick layer. Still, Fluttershy had more than enough time to enjoy the chipmunk’s natural flavor, slightly improved by the mayo on his back.
Then the yellow pegasus tilted her head up and took a single big gulp. Her now trained throat muscles effortlessly pushed the clod of food mush with the chipmunk inside down her gullet. Its muscular walls rippled rhythmically around the critter’s body, gently massaging it from all sides, all while pushing him closer and closer to the mare’s hungrily rumbling stomach.
Twilight’s eyes followed the subtly writhing bulge as it slid down Fluttershy’s neck and vanished in her chest, only to reappear on her formerly flat tummy. She even scribbled something in her notepad. Rainbow Dash, meanwhile, stuck out her tongue and grimaced with disgust. No, she wasn’t disgusted with Fluttershy, but rather with her own imagination as she tried to imagine what it would feel like to swallow a critter whole and alive.
“How did it taste?” She asked when Fluttershy sat straight.
“Good… he tasted good…” Fluttershy said, still feeling a bit sorry for her prey.
The chipmunk squeezed through the narrow sphincter into the much roomier chamber of the predator’s stomach and plunged into the sloshing puddle of gastric juices at the bottom. It was soft and warm in here, just as the other critters promised it would be. The only downside was the total darkness, but complaining about it would be silly – he was in a stomach, after all.
“Are you okay in there, little one?” Fluttershy asked politely, putting her hoof on her belly and rubbing it gently.
“Yes! It’s actually quite cozy in here!” The chipmunk said, breaking out of the food mush covering him and putting his tiny paws on the sensitive wall of the mare’s stomach. “Thank you so much for eating me, Fluttershy! Now I can pass away in peace, knowing that I will be useful even after my demise…” He added, gently massaging Fluttershy’s stomach wall and making the mare huff involuntarily.
“You… you’re welcome, lil one! Enjoy yourself in there…” She said with a coy smile.
But as soon as Fluttershy thought that she could finally leave the awkward part of the picnic behind, another critter showed. It was a small bird, a robin, to be exact. It fluttered down from the same tree crown and flopped on the mat between Fluttershy’s front legs.
“Aww, poor thing! Can I help you somehow?” Fluttershy asked.
Rainbow Dash already opened her mouth for another unwanted joke, but Pinkie Pie foreseen that and shoved a banana in it before the blue pegasus could say a word, making her choke and goggle her eyes in shock.
“H-hello… I saw how you ate that chipmunk and wanted to ask… can you eat me too, please?” The robin said politely.
“What? But you look perfectly healthy!” Fluttershy objected.
“Well, you see, I’m not. I can’t fly straight since the day I hatched, and that’s why I flopped down here… I don’t want to be a burden to my family, and I think this is the best way to deal with it…” The robin chirped.
“Oh… o-oh, that’s so sad…” Fluttershy whimpered. “Twilight, this bird can’t fly straight! Do you know any healing spells that might help?” She asked her friend hopefully.
“I’m afraid I don’t – healing has never been my strong suit, especially healing anyone but ponies…” Twilight said, rubbing her head guiltily.
“I see… well, in that case, I’ll do what I can do for you, lil one…” Fluttershy promised.
“Thank you very much…” The bird said and jumped on the yellow pegasus’ right foreleg. Fluttershy brought the bird to her face and started to open her mouth, but was interrupted.
“Wait! How about putting her in the muffin? I baked it myself, so it should be really, really delicious…” Pinkie Pie suggested, showing a chocolate muffin with a hole in it which she was thoroughly prying using a spoon since the moment she saw the bird.
“That… would be nice, I guess…” Fluttershy muttered.
“Great! Get in here, little birdie! You want Fluttershy to remember how delicious you were, don’t you?” Pinkie said, bringing the muffin closer to the bird.
“Yes, I do! I’m really sorry that I have to make you uncomfortable, Fluttershy…” The bird said, hopping tail first into the hole in the muffin and peeking out of it, just like the chipmunk peeked out of the sandwich.
“Oh, don’t worry about that, little one! I’m always happy to help animals in need…” Fluttershy said, carefully taking the muffin with her hooves.
“I hope I will sate you well, Fluttershy…” The bird chirped, feeling the predator’s warm breath on her head as the yellow pegasus opened her mouth.
Fluttershy didn’t reply, instead she carefully put the whole muffin into her mouth. Luckily, the bird was smaller than the chipmunk, and so was the muffin in comparison to the sandwich, so it did fit in her mouth pretty easily. She chewed it carefully, turning it into sweet, sticky mush and involuntarily moaning with pleasure. Pinkie Pie surely knew her craft well…
Applejack once again looked aside shyly. Not like she wasn’t approving this or anything, she just found this a little bit… weird. And so did Rainbow Dash, who stuck out the tip of her tongue as she recalled how annoying feathers of an unfortunate sparrow were to clean out of her mouth as she accidentally caught one of them with her mouth. Of course, she did spit it out immediately, but she still vividly remembered that dryness and irritation in her mouth…
Pinkie Pie, meanwhile, started munching on a muffin herself – seeing Fluttershy eating made her pretty hungry. Rarity served the cups for everyone and poured the tea from the thermos into them. She was quite used to Fluttershy’s feeding habits and weren’t bothered by those at all. Twilight scribbled again in her notepad and scratched her chin with her hoof. She thought that she should really learn some healing magic for animals just for cases like this…
Fluttershy shoveled the little bird around her mouth using her tongue, making her chirp with pleasure as she got covered in the mush just like her predecessor. Then the yellow pegasus tilted her head up and took another big gulp, sending the second live prey down her long gullet and into her stomach…
The bird’s tiny body slid through the tight fleshy tube much easier than the chipmunk’s, yet she still felt the pressure and the rippling of Fluttershy’s gullet walls. It was really pleasant, and a blitz moment of discomfort as she was squeezed through the narrow sphincter ended with the sense of freedom as she plopped into the predator’s gastric sack. Fluttershy’s belly rounded up even more and now had two squirming bulges on it, as both the robin and the chipmunk were perfectly fine for now.
“Ur-rp… oh, excuse me, that’s so… rude…” Fluttershy babbled as a small belch escaped her mouth.
“Nah, relax, Fluttershy! You’re among your friends and no one will judge you for bad table manners…” Rainbow Dash reassured her and showed her what really bad table manners looked like as she started gorging on the apple pie Applejack brought.
“Th-thank you… you really are the best friends in all of Equestria, girls!” Fluttershy said with a shy smile.
And so the picnic began. All the ponies were munching down the goodies they took with themselves, though Fluttershy’s sandwiches weren’t nearly as popular as Pinkie Pie’s bakery. They chattered carelessly about their daily routines: Pinkie Pie said they should have a party this weekend, Rarity complained that she was running out of crystals for her dresses and will have to visit Diamond Dogs again, Rainbow Dash kindly asked Applejack to spare a bottle of cider for her next season, and Twilight checked her schedule to see if she could squeeze in some time to study healing magic. And Fluttershy… Well, she was just happy to be in their company and listen to their cheerful voices.
For the little critters, this was the end of the story. They kept rubbing and massaging the walls of their predator’s stomach as it was gradually filling up with gastric juices. Their petite bodies melted into uniform goop and mixed with the mush of the sandwich and muffin Fluttershy ate. That mush drained deeper, into the mare’s bowels, where it got absorbed and became part of her beautiful body once and for all. Their sacrifice was certainly not in vain, since no one in this world took her duty as seriously as Fluttershy did…
